Water is the only natural element that can simultaneously destroy and cleanse. It is a vital element in our lives and most of the earth is covered in it.  Water travels unaltered from the top of a mountain down to a valley.

Water #4325 mayim מַיִם The Hebrew word has an open Mem in the beginning of the word and a closed Mem at the end of the word.

In Jewish Mysticism, the mayim symbolizes the spring of Torah.  An underground spring rises upward from an unknown source to reveal itself, so does the spring of wisdom.  It rises from the  Source which is God.  It is expressed through the flowing stream of mans speech. Proverbs 18:4 says, “The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook”. (See also Prov. 20:5)

God is the Fountain of Living Water (Jer.2:13,17:130.  The Messiah is the Living Water, the only One who can truly satisfy our thirst for true life, belonging and satisfaction. The woman at the well demonstrates the invitation and the link between the physical and spiritual John 4:13,14. On the last of greatest day of the feast (Sukkot -Tabernacles) during the water libation ceremony, Jesus offered them the very thing they were celebrating (John 7:37,38/ Is. 49:10, 55:1).
