Hebrew Letter Yud

The Yud is the most frequently used letter, and the smallest letter of the alphabet. The Yud floats and is not a grounded letter, however the word Yesod יְסוֹד means fundamental, foundation, basis, and essential. The importance of having a firm foundation in the word of God and His Son Jesus. (see Col. 2:6,7)

The numeric value of this letter, 10, speaks of completion.  Having ten fingers and toes, there being 10 generations from Adam to Noah and 10 generations from Noah to Abraham, there are 10 Commandments, and 10 plagues.

Many biblical names of prophets and leaders have names that begin with the letter Yud; Israel, Jacob, Joshua, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and more importantly Yeshua יְשׁוּעָה (Jesus).

The Yud is small but vital, just like Israel among the nations.  No prayer is too small, or person too small/young to be used by God. (See Deut.7:7 and Luke 10:21)

The Yud speaks of the humility of Christ in Phil. 2:6-8, and the completion found in Christ in Matt. 5:17,18.
