Palm #3709  כַּף  kaph means palm, hollow or flat of the hand or palm, dish.

It comes from the root word kaphaph #3721 כָפַף meaning to bend, bend down, bow.  The letter itself is a picture of bending over.

It’s a picture of what we do with our hands. We each have a gift from God to create something and contribute to the world around us. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

An open palm is shaped like a vessel that could hold or accommodate anything.

The Kaph reminds us that when we lift our hands and are open to the Lord, we should anticipate receiving something from Him.

2 Cor. 9:8 says, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”  We are holy vessels, filled with the presence of God (1 Cor. 6:19). It’s encouraging to know that in Isaiah 49:16 it says, “Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.”
